Yes. If your child qualifies for Utah's Children First Education Fund, also known as the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship, you can use it to get a Sherwood family reading subscription. Sherwood is an approved vendor through Theo Learning, the platform this program uses.
About the Children First Education Fund
This is a Utah scholarship specifically for students with disabilities. Your child may qualify if they:
- Are between the ages of 3 and 21
- Have a documented disability as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Are not currently enrolled in a public or charter school
- Reside in Utah with a custodial parent or legal guardian
- Program: Children First Education Fund (Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship)
- Marketplace: Theo Learning
- Parent resources: scholarship.cfe-fund.org
Sherwood can be especially helpful for students with learning differences. Word-by-word read-along pairs the audio with the text, and the app offers an OpenDyslexic font option.
This is a separate program from Utah Fits All
Utah has two scholarships. Utah Fits All is the universal program and runs on Odyssey. The Children First Education Fund is for students with disabilities and runs on Theo Learning. Sherwood is in both. If you meant the universal program, see Utah Fits All.
How payment works
The Children First Education Fund offers two payment paths. You can pay Sherwood directly and submit a receipt for reimbursement, or submit a payment request and have the fund pay us. We can provide a clean receipt or invoice either way. Email hello@sherwoodkids.com and we will help you get set up.
What your funds get you
Thousands of kid-chosen audiobooks and ebooks, word-by-word read-along, a profile per child, parent controls, and one family price. New annual subscribers get a free Bluetooth speaker.
